Historic Neighborhoods: Explore Chiado, Bairro Alto, and Príncipe Real, epicenters of Lisbon’s LGBT+ life, filled with stories of resistance, art, and celebration.
Iconic Figures: Learn about the lives and legacies of figures like António Botto, a 20th-century openly gay poet; António Variações, an innovative musician and one of the first victims of the disease; Ana de Gonta Colaço, an avant-garde sculptor and garçonne, and many others.
Cultural and Meeting Spaces: Visit cafés, and bars that have been and continue to be refuges for the LGBT+ community in the city.
Stories of Resistance and Pride: Discover more about the historic milestones of LGBT+ activism in Lisbon, from the early movements to recent achievements.
Our tour is guided by André Murraças (award-winning theatre director, playwright, and researcher of Portuguese queer heritage), providing an authentic, educational, and inspiring experience.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDE
André Murraças, your guide, is a theatre maker and a Portuguese LGBTQ+ history researcher. He has studied Portugal´s queer figures, spaces and facts, creating the first online archive Queerquivo and the project The museum out of the closet which works with portuguese museums in showing queer artists and its history through tours, exhibitions or conferences.
